Filmmaker Faceoff

Filmmaker Face-Off is a competition that shows the beauty of the filmmaking process, the creativity of our community, and the magic of a film being made and remade through the different stages of production.

Script submissions closed August 8, 2025, and the 3 winning scripts were assigned at random to local filmmakers who signed up to compete in the production/post-production part of this challenge. Each team will have full creative control over how to interpret their script!

Registration for the 2025 Filmmaker Face-Off closed at our August 20th meeting, when we announced the three script winners and the teams drew to see which film they will be directing.

Films will be due and screened in November!

SCRIPT SUBMISSIONS ARE CLOSED. CREATE OR JOIN A TEAM!

Each script must be under 10 pages and formatted in standard screenplay format.
By submitting you are agreeing that if you are 1 of the 3 winning scripts the IFCKC is allowed to give your script to filmmakers in the KC area and that those filmmakers have the right to produce that script into a finished film.

Screenwriters retain full rights to their script and will be credited as the sole writer of the project unless they state otherwise or wish to have their name removed from the final film.

Filmmakers shall have final cut of the film and retain rights to screen the film at other festivals post Filmmaker Face-Off as well as publish the final product for online or other distribution.

Screenwriters must be local to KS or MO.

Screenwriters: Remember the script is a jumping off point filmmakers will have full creative control to change whatever they’d like, genre, genders, locations, lines but in the end will be judged if they still have the essence of the original script.
